Meet Daniela May 12, 2009

Daniela, born and raised in Germany, she ventured across the big ocean to find her true love as her mom had sang her to sleep with the old tune “My Bonnie lies over the ocean” many nights. The journey took her to Minnesota State University where she fell in love with mud, not with Bud, in her first pottery class during the summer of 2000. The two of them were hooked and took their relationship to the next level when Daniela was accepted into grad school for ceramics at Washington State University in 2004. That little excursion was concluded in May of 2006 with the high honor of being awarded the Master of Fine Arts.

During the spring of 2006, Daniela found herself exchanging great conversations with a young lad, that lived half way across the country. She decided that she ought to meet this fella and move a little closer to his neck of the woods just in case he turned out the be the Bonnie. Daniela decided that Minneapolis was close enough to the young lad’s place and the two saw each other about every weekend. She also took on a job with North Prairie Tileworks and became the clay studio manager of the Bloomington Art Center, where she also taught clay class classes.

After about 9 months of driving 4 hours every other weekend to see her lad, Daniela had grown very fond of the idea to pick up and move once again, this time into the tiny Madison apartment with the young lad. So in May of 2007, she quit her jobs, packed her bags and moved to Madison. She found work at a tile store selling tile and later took a position in an office.

Fast forward to the Spring of 2009. Daniela had developed this insatiable appetite to rekindle her relationship with mud. Now it seemed so much more possible since she and the lad had bought a house which had a basement for a studio.  So here we are the day that Daniela and mud got back together and everyone got happy.
